It's been a little while since my previous post but I want to try writing a shorter blog everyday with a small detail about what I got up to and maybe some sort of uplifting or inspirational message. I'm only aiming for a little bit everyday, so I wonder how long I can keep this habit for!
Today, as with every weekday at the moment, I was at work. Not a complaint, not a highlight. Glad to be able to work, quite miss getting to sleep in. Swings and roundabouts. We move.
My boyfriend came over for a BBQ and I had the Korean Inspired Veggiebabs from Aldi. For any non-meat-eating friends (or meat-eaters who fancy trying something new) give these a go - sooo yummy.
Afterwards we cycled to a friends house to pick up a straw cleaner that I'd left there a few days ago (bit niche and not very multi-purposeful). My boyfriend had borrowed my brother's bike, who had mentioned that sometimes the gears and/or chain are temperamental. He wasn't lying.
For the journey to our friend's house, the bike was fine. Albeit, making some scary sounding noises, but fine. However, as we were leaving to head back the chain fell off, as it did over and over and over again the rest of the way back. Every 500 metres. No exaggeration.
Also, from repairing the chain so often, his hands were covered in oil/grease. I don't have a photo but if I did I'd have it as the photo for this post.
At one point, my boyfriend got so sick of stopping to fix the bike that he just started using it like a big skateboard and was pushing himself along with the momentum of one leg (??).
Less than 150 metres from my house, the finish line for this ridiculous endeavour was in sight.
I hear a clunk.
Followed by my boyfriends voice saying "that's not good"
The chain had snapped.
Not ideal at all.
There is no moral or great insight to life at the end of this story. It was just absolutely ridiculous how often we stopped for that bike chain, only for it to give up on us right at the end. (big sigh)
Thank you for reading!
Please make sure to follow this page so you can see when I upload again tomorrow, and hold me accountable for daily posting :)
Thanks again,
